A huge congratulations to Arup on a brilliant result at the 2026 Australian Interior Design Awards.
Arup’s new Brisbane workplace at 123 Albert Street took home two major awards on the night – Workplace Design and Sustainability Advancement, recognised for its strong connection to place, biophilic design and genuine commitment to environmental responsibility.
We were proud to be part of delivering this project, supplying MP2 frameless glazed louvres and the smoke control panel (installation, programming and commissioning included), supporting natural ventilation and smoke control throughout the fit-out.
The project is targeting both Living Building Challenge and WELL Platinum certification, a first for Australia if achieved. It is fantastic to see that ambition already being recognised on the national awards stage.
Well done to Arup, Hassell, Buildcorp and everyone else involved. We are proud to have played our part on a project setting the bar this high.

Congratulations to Fender Katsalidis and the wider project team on 1 Hotel Melbourne receiving both the Hotel of the Year, New Build and the prestigious Paul Davis Award at the Australasia Pacific Hotel Design Awards.

Part of the broader Seafarers precinct, the project brings together adaptive reuse, sustainability and contemporary design along Melbourne’s waterfront, creating a significant addition to the city’s built environment.

EBSA is proud to have contributed to the development with our award-winning MP2 Opposed Opening Louvre system (MP2-FL-OP), developed specifically for the project over a two-year collaboration process. Designed to maintain unobstructed views while delivering high-performance natural ventilation and weather protection, the system was integrated across both the hotel and residential components of the precinct.

The MP2-FL-OP was engineered to support the architectural intent of the façade while achieving strong environmental performance, with advanced dual-blade operation, low air infiltration and high water resistance.

Congratulations to FK, Riverlee and all project partners involved in this well-deserved recognition.

EBSA – Delivering real commercial solutions

Within minutes, visibility can be reduced to near zero, disorientating occupants and hindering safe evacuation. At the same time, rising levels of carbon monoxide and other toxic gases significantly increase the risk of serious injury or worse. Maintaining a clear, low-smoke layer is critical to preserving tenable conditions for both occupants and emergency responders.
Smoke and Heat Exhaust Ventilation (SHEV) systems are designed to address this challenge. By extracting smoke and hot gases at high level, these systems help to maintain visibility at floor level, supporting safer evacuation and more effective firefighting operations.
EBSA partners with LAMILUX and D+H to deliver proven smoke control and daylighting solutions across Australia and New Zealand. Together, these systems combine high-performance operable rooflights, hatches and intelligent control systems to support safe, compliant building design.
Key system features include:
• Fail-safe smoke relief
• Fire alarm integration
• 72-hour battery backup
• Compliance with relevant Australian and New Zealand standards
Smoke safety is not a secondary consideration. It is a fundamental part of building performance.
Atlassian Central has now surpassed Milwaukee’s Ascent to become the world’s tallest hybrid timber tower, marking a significant milestone for the project and for large-scale mass timber construction globally.
Rising above Central Station and progressing towards its full height of 39 levels, the tower’s exoskeleton and layered façade are now clearly defined on Sydney’s skyline. Designed by SHoP Architects in collaboration with BVN, and delivered by Built and Obayashi Corporation for Dexus, the project reflects a clear commitment to reducing embodied carbon and rethinking how high-rise workplaces operate.
From the outset, the building has been designed to operate on renewable energy, target a 6 Star Green Star rating and achieve a 5.5 Star NABERS Energy commitment, alongside a 50% reduction in upfront embodied carbon compared to conventional construction.
EBSA’s involvement spans the design, supply and installation of the façade automation systems, delivered as part of the early contractor engagement process alongside the wider project team. The package represents, to our knowledge, the largest window automation scope undertaken in Australia to date, supporting natural ventilation strategies, smoke relief and coordinated building operation across the tower’s stacked habitat zones. Our scope includes 4,757 CDC window actuators, 18 CPS-M control panels, 56 distribution boxes and approximately 42 kilometres of cabling.
The operable façade and stacked habitat zones rely on coordinated automation to support natural ventilation, smoke relief and controlled building operation across the tower. Integrating this strategy early in the design phase has been critical to achieving the project’s performance ambitions.
Atlassian Central continues to demonstrate how complex commercial buildings can combine scale, sustainability and operational performance in a dense urban environment.
