This award adds to a growing list of industry recognition for the MP2 Opposed Opening Louvres, which includes:
Most Innovative Louvre System 2023– APAC Business Awards
Most Innovative Window Solution 2024– AGWA QLD Design Awards

Originally introduced in 2012, the Schneider MP2 louvre quickly established itself as a market leader as energy efficiency requirements under the NCC intensified. Its performance has been proven through stringent testing, including cyclone resistance at 32m/s, AS4284 compliance, and even earthquake performance.
The MP2 Opposed Opening Louvre (MP2-FL-OP) was developed in close collaboration with our client on the Seafarers Project to resolve challenges around sightlines, ventilation, and water ingress. The result is a system that allows unobstructed views while maintaining exceptional weather performance, with the added flexibility of simultaneous or independent blade operation.
MP2 Opposed Opening Louvre System – Test Results (AZUMA TEST: AZT0153.23):
• Deflection: 3000 Pa+ / 2500 Pa-
• Water penetration: 1000 Pa
• ULS: 6000+ / 6500-
• Air infiltration: Low
This recognition at the Zak Awards is a reflection of EBSA’s commitment to delivering advanced solutions for natural ventilation, smoke relief, and sustainable design across Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

The Macquarie University Innovation Hub – Innovative Design and Sustainable Construction
The Macquarie University Innovation Hub is a strong example of what can be achieved when innovative design and sustainable construction come together.
Built in just five months, the Innovation Hub was designed to meet two key requirements: a fast construction timeframe and the ability to be relocated in the future. The building’s timber structure, made up of prefabricated LVL beams, glulam columns, and CLT panels, delivered the necessary speed and flexibility, with minimal impact on the surrounding site and campus operations.
Sustainability was a major focus throughout the project. The lightweight timber structure sits on a steel foundation designed for full disassembly, protecting the existing landscape and avoiding major earthworks. Passive design elements such as extended roof overhangs, natural ventilation strategies, and a photovoltaic system support the building’s energy performance, making it a model for lower-impact construction.
EBSA is proud to have contributed to the Innovation Hub’s success by providing high-level automation with our CDC-0252 chain drives and CPSM control panels. Every window is fully addressable, offering flexibility for natural ventilation and integration into building management systems. The CDC series’ compact design allowed for concealed installation within the timber window profiles, aligning with the project’s focus on refined, high-performance detailing.
Projects like the Innovation Hub show how considered design and technology can deliver long-term value for users, for the environment, and for future adaptability.

Globally Recognised Project Features EBSA Louvre System
Quay Quarter Tower in Sydney has received global recognition, including ‘World Building of the Year 2022’ at the World Architectural Festival, the ‘Lord Mayor’s Prize 2023’ at the AIA NSW Chapter Awards, and ‘Best Tall Building Worldwide 2023’ by CTBUH.
Originally a 46 story building completed in 1976, it has been transformed into a 50 story tower through a $600 million redevelopment designed by 3XN in collaboration with BVN.
A key feature of this project is its sustainable approach. The design retained 95% of the existing core and 65% of its beams, columns, and slabs, reducing embodied carbon by 12,000 metric tons while doubling the usable floor area to 1.1 million square feet. It is the largest and tallest building transformation of its kind.
EBSA supplied and installed Schneider G12 FS Louvres, a D+H Mechatronic CPS-M Control Panel, and LDS 100/0600 Actuators for the podium skylight, contributing to the building’s natural ventilation and smoke relief systems.
We specialise in advanced window automation and operable louvre solutions, helping to create healthier, more sustainable buildings.
